Support HOME Funding

Congress is deciding how much funding to include in the FY 2026 budget for the Home Investment Partnerships Program (HOME), which provides critical funding to community-based development organizations. Key decisions are being made now by the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development (THUD) subcommittees in the House and Senate. If your legislator serves on a THUD subcommittee, your voice is powerful!

TAKE ACTION

Urge members of the THUD subcommittees to support at least $1.5 billion for HOME in FY 2026. Here's how:

Protect NeighborWorks America

The President’s FY 2026 budget request seeks to eliminate NeighborWorks America, a congressionally chartered nonprofit organization. NeighborWorks has been a pillar of the community development field for decades, providing training, resources, and support that benefit organizations and communities.

TAKE ACTION

Contact your elected officials — particularly Republicans. Urge your governors, senators, representatives, and Trump administration contacts not to eliminate funding for NeighborWorks America. Tell them that NeighborWorks is essential to increasing the effectiveness of local nonprofits in providing affordable housing and supporting economic development. If you have examples of how NeighborWorks has benefitted your organization and your community, make sure to share them!

Opportunity Zones

Tell Congress Opportunity Zones Need Affordable Housing & Transparency. Congress is poised to extend the Opportunity Zones (OZs) tax incentive through 2033. While this program aims to spur investment in distressed areas, it lacks essential safeguards. Without reform, it could accelerate displacement rather than deliver affordable housing or community benefit. Opportunity Zones should benefit communities — not just investors!
